Manufacturing Engineering S&BC (ME) is a global function with responsibility to launch new car programs and processes in Volvo Cars' plants. ME's mission is to ensure an efficient production process with optimum balancing of production and product requirements for Volvo Car Group, through constant development of robust and efficient methods. The main customers are our manufacturing plants with their product and process projects, to which we supply installations of equipment, industrial strategy plans, methods and know-how. Stamping die process engineering is a part of Volvo Cars Manufacturing Engineering, Stamping & Body Components. Our mission is to develop and implement sheet metal stamping processes for new car models within Volvo Cars.
As Stamping Die Drocess Engineer you will be deeply involved in the design and development of the car and its body components from an early stage until start of production in our car plants. In the early project phases you will lead and drive the feasibility work regarding the parts against product design in Gothenburg. Parallel to this you are developing the production process for the part. During the production process development you will also be the interface towards the die suppliers around the world. The work is conducted in cross functional teams working with product design, production engineering and simulation.
Main responsibilities
• Developing stamping and production processes for the new sheet metal parts in our future cars
• Creating processes with high quality output and with high accuracy
• Give input to the product designer with guidelines to ensure that the products meets set requirement
• During the production process development be the interface against the die suppliers around the world
• Die design follow up and responsible for feasibility of parts
Required qualifications
• B.Sc within mechanical engineering or equivalent work experience in similar area
• Experience in Sheet metal forming
• Swedish and English, very good skills written and spoken
• Good knowledge in Catia V5 is highly meritorious
• Experienced from Stamping die engineering will be an asset
• Experience within Stamping die design is meritorious
• Production engineering and Stamping die manufacturing is meritorious
• Project Management is an asset
