Job description:
Merchant products make Wolt an integral part of our merchants' daily lives. We build tools and automation that are useful, efficient, reliable, and delightful to use. Our products are built around self-service, which helps us keep trust at the core of our partner relationships. If that's something that gets you excited, don't hesitate to drop in your application.
In recent years, we started expanding our delivery offering to new verticals beyond restaurant deliveries, including grocery, pharmacy, merchandise, flowers, and apparel. That meant quite many new services and technical improvements as use cases and flows are more complex than ever. Besides providing a great experience for our Merchants through self-service tooling we also need to guarantee the scalability of their business and integration with their systems providing APIs that automate manual tasks.
In this role, you own the Merchant tech domain, facilitate the engineering roadmap for this group, and plan ahead in scaling, performance, and productivity alongside taking part in hands-on coding. You are passionate about quality engineering and push us all forward. You make sure engineering tasks are prioritized as you are part of the prioritization on a group level.
Staff Engineers at Wolt own their area and technological competence with a passion, sharing best practices, ensuring scalable systems, mentoring developers, and facilitating their expertise relentlessly. They make sure we scale while maintaining engineering quality and produce uncompromising results from the product vision. Staff engineers work as individual contributors in high criticality projects in their domain and help champion success. They participate in business-critical projects and ensure the projects in the area are successful and well built to scale. Staff engineers share the knowledge and influence engineers and teams across the group and beyond.
Requirements:
You know how to take an engineering culture to the next level by championing good engineering practices.
You are able to share knowledge in meaningful ways and mentor engineers across the teams.
You proactively identify and solve potential technical pitfalls and issues incl. Security.
You show a great understanding of complex technical systems and have the ability to make meaningful initiatives to improve them at scale.
You help to facilitate, prioritize, and coordinate the engineering roadmap.
You can create tooling and best practices to help teams improve their service observability and disaster recovery capabilities.
You have great communication skills, both written and spoken, that unlocks collaboration with many stakeholders across the company
You have extensive backend engineering experience, especially with JVM-based languages.
