hela Sverige Within Advanced Drug Delivery (ADD), a sub-division of Pharmaceutical Sciences (PS), we focus on drug delivery and parenteral administration in the field of complex synthetic molecules and biomolecules such as peptides, oligonucleotides and polynucleotides. We have the responsibility to progress the candidate compounds from early preclinical phase up to Proof of Concept in humans.
We are now looking for two skilled experimentalists that will focus on developing and characterising advanced colloidal formulations for delivery of biological molecules to specific tissues and cells. The role covers development of advanced formulation methods to be used in both preclinical phase and early clinical phase (phase I/IIa).
The role holders will:
• Develop and with different scattering techniques characterize colloidal delivery systems for biomolecules, supporting projects in preclinical and clinical phase.
• Generate, assess and report data with a clear understanding of its reliability, interpret findings and draw authoritative conclusions and recommendations so that their significance can be appreciated. Engage customers in development of solutions by applying a broader perspective.
• Ensure that work is performed in accordance with current working principles and quality system with appropriate safety (SHE). Maintain knowledge of the regulatory and compliance guidelines as related to the role.
• Prepare documentation and formal reports in accordance with current standards and where appropriate to GMP. Generate CMC documents for regulatory submissions or enquiries.
• Apply technical knowledge to drug projects and the evaluation of new technology/processes. Collaboration with specialist scientific and/or technology networks.
• May supervise co-workers and contribute to their training and development by acting as coach/mentor.
• Will work as a member of cross-functional project teams, with a large degree of independence representing own group and area of expertise.
Minimum requirements
• Educational background at research level or equivalent work experience in an area relevant to Physical chemistry, Biophysical chemistry, Biotechnology or similar (e.g., MSc or PhD).
• Experience in resolving complex characterisation issues related to pharmaceuticals or equivalent molecules (e.g., by using Cryo-TEM, SAXS, SANS and other physical/chemical characterisation techniques).
• Experience of macromolecular based systems such as polymers, lipids and different conjugates.
• Understanding of suitable quality standards (e.g., GLP and GMP)
Preferred experience
• Experience in working with oligonucleotides, peptides or other compounds of high complexity.
• Expertise in different scattering techniques.
• Experience of different formulation systems/matrixes.
• An understanding of cellular uptake mechanisms, targeting and basic immunology.
• Technical competence in the field of injectable formulation development and sustained release (e.g. parenterals, biologics) is desirable.
• Experience from complex data evaluation and documentation.
• Experience from working with pharmaceutical development.
• Experience of using simulation software and a strong interest in maths
• Ability to author scientific publications.
• Ability to understand quantitative and qualitative data from in-vitro assays and relate data to quality and stability of the active pharmaceutical molecule.
