hela Sverige Work as part of the R&D Science and Technology Group which focuses in developing novel material and technology solutions for implantable medical devices. You will combine hands-on work in our laboratory with collaboration efforts with internal and external partners to create custom made materials and prototypes.
Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead research, development and assessment of novel metallic and other inorganic material technologies.
• Assist in enabling concepts to result in prototypes and future scale-up in manufacturing.
• Work alongside internal and external partners to create custom made materials and prototypes.
• Assist in the selection and preparation of biomaterials acceptable for use in medical devices
• Provide technical expertise, consultation and support to product development projects and production engineers.
Other Requirements
• Occasional travel to worldwide facilities is required.
Education and/or Experience
• Strong background in material science/engineering with a focus on properties and processing of metallic materials is strongly desirable.
• Ph.D. degree with 4+ years of relevant experience or M. Sc. Degree with 7+ years of relevant experience in Material Science, Material Chemistry/Physics, Metallurgy, or related field combined.
• Technical specialty within the field of o material processing technologies o materials forming technologies o metallurgy o material mechanical properties o thermal, mechanical and chemical treatments/processes of metals or similar areas.
• Experience with shape memory alloy technologies, fatigue, failure analysis and modeling tools are meriting.
The ability and desire to work hands-on in laboratory environment is a necessity for this position. As a person, you are enthusiastic about novel technologies and you should have demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought. The candidate should have the ability to generate, prioritize and execute multiple projects against aggressive timelines and be able to both work well in a team environment and contribute independently with minimal supervision.
The candidate should have understanding and practical experience of processing and forming of metallic materials, such as forging, drawing, rolling, welding, molding and coating techniques, as well as characterization instrumentation, such as SEM, TEM, optical microscopy, XPS, IR, diffraction/scattering and, mechanical properties assessment. Proficient with computers as well as have excellent written and verbal communication skills is required.
