In parallel with the initial roll out of 5G networks around the world, the interest in hardware/software disaggregation and virtualization of Radio Access Networks (RAN) and also the use of open, standardized, RAN interfaces is increasing. Ericsson have closely followed this technology evolution over the past years and have now decided to explore a more complete product portfolio in the area of Virtual/Cloud RAN. Formed in 2019, Product Line 5G Exilis is profit & loss responsible for Ericsson's Cloud RAN portfolio.
We are now in the process of building up a team of strategic product managers that will ensure that Ericsson has a world leading Cloud RAN portfolio in the coming years. You will be part of a highly energetic and tech focused team, and you will be working with overall Cloud RAN product strategies, including commercial strategies, technology strategies, go-to-market strategies, standardization strategies. In addition, you will be a key player in customer engagements. You will engage with key stakeholders to drive strategy execution and achieve financial targets and you will also be a key player in formulating Ericsson's Cloud RAN value proposition and ensure effective internal communication as well as towards Market Areas, customers and industry analysts.
Job description
This is not an easy task we are embarking on. It will for sure be an interesting journey and be certain that you will learn a lot, be able to challenge, take decisions and most important have a lot of fun. The profile we are looking for is a full-fledged mix of RAN business and technical wisdom.
Being part of the Product Line 5G Exilis team you work closely with the development units responsible for Cloud RAN products but also with product lines responsible for 4G and 5G SW, Transport, Radio and RAN compute. On top of internal engagements, you will have the opportunity to travel and interact with regions and customers, give customer presentations and engage in workshops within your areas of responsibility.
While doing the transformation to a fully Cloud native RAN, we also need find new ways-of-working, from early technical studies and customer requirements to product deliveries, maintenance and support.
You will be a key player in this transformation and deep technical understanding will be needed to take the right decisions.
There are many things on our wish list for a candidate to succeed in Product Line Exilis. Let us share some of the basics on what we need - balancing, interacting, securing, driving, initiating, presenting, convincing, following up, coordinating and aligning is what this role is all about.
Balancing short- and long-term product and technology strategies for our virtualized RAN portfolio would be great to get a hand with, and please also include the cost/benefit analysis. Interact with and prioritize based on input from customers, market needs and experts will not be easy and value proposition and marketing strategies will be on your table as well. Driving business planning including commercial models and R&D frame allocations will be another important aspect of your job and finally but maybe most important, collaborate cross and align with other business areas, commercial and technical strategies.
Key Qualifications
You have an academic degree: MSc, MBA or equivalent. Most likely you are experienced in product management, system management and/or research management and of course a deep interest and understanding of 4G and 5G as well as Cloud technologies. Some more:
* Business and technical understanding of mobile systems and the RAN market, especially the business motivations that drives the customer requirements, and the competitive landscape.
* Negotiation skills and capability to translate our products into values for our customers.
* Strong capability to manage high levels of complexity and difficult investment tradeoffs
* Excellent technology/product knowledge, especially in 5G/NR
* Excellent understanding of the global Telecom/ICT industry
* Good understanding of Cloud technologies and how they are used in other businesses, including public Cloud providers.
* Excellent knowledge of Ericsson organization, products, solutions, customers, commercial and offerings
* 5+ years in product management and/or R&D
