We are now looking for a Specialist on Substances of Concern (SOC)

The Product Environmental Sustainability department is a function within Group Trucks Technology with the mission to provide expertise, guidance and support to management and engineering within the area of substances of concern. We are also supporting Volvo Group Trucks Technology with processes and tools to ensure that our products comply with applicable legislation and our ambitions when it comes to substances of concern. Additionally, the department will develop, consolidate and anchor SOC phase-out roadmaps in line with the Volvo Group sustainability strategy and manage projects with external collaboration partners in this area. Role description

In this position, you will monitor and support the organization in our efforts to enforce compliance regarding substances of concern in our products. You will lead the work of developing phase-out roadmaps and provide vital input to our strategies to ensure SOC compliance in Volvo Group products, considering both legal and business contexts. Furthermore, you will provide expert advice to different parts of our organization in the area of SOC.
The challenge you will meet is handling complexity - the opportunity is global networking with colleagues from all Volvo Group business areas around the world to reach results! You will work in close collaboration with colleagues from, e.g., our Truck brands, Construction Equipment, Penta, and Buses. Main activities & responsibilities
Manage substance data in our internal substance system Substrack. i.e. making sure data is up to date and useful for the purpose of tracking substances of concern in Volvo Group products
Represent Volvo Group in relevant internal and external foras for substance compliance in parts and products
Coordinate the Volvo Group's work with mapping SOC in Substrack
Lead the work of developing phase-out roadmaps to ensure SOC compliance in products, taking legal and business contexts into consideration
Drive actions to ensure continuous SOC control and legal compliance including providing input to development/improvement of tools and systems
Development and update of relevant instructions
Provide training and advice in SOC-related areas
Provide guidance to the relevant Volvo Group fora in the area of expertise

Who are you?

We believe you have a positive mindset with a demonstrated ability to initiate, manage and coordinate cross-functional projects. You are passionate about your area of expertise, have a can-do attitude, are analytical, structured, attentive, and possess excellent communication skills in English - both spoken and written. You are adept and capable of actively engaging with multi-disciplinary teams in an international environment and can build sustainable and trustful relationships and networks.
Required experiences and education:
MSc or PhD degree in a relevant subject area, e.g., chemical engineering
A minimum of ten years' experience in the area of substances of concern
Good knowledge of legislation and regulations on substances of concern
Good knowledge of the heavy-duty automotive industry, e.g., trucks and buses, is a great advantage.
