Job description:
What you will do
Your main responsibility will be to calculate part prices and tooling investments, both in new truck projects and as a support to today's truck business. You will perform cost target setting and cost breakdowns of new and existing parts based on drawings or physical parts.
You will start early in the advanced engineering / concept selection phase, working intimately with engineering and design. You will follow the products thru the development phases and then actively support the targets you have set in the sourcing process.
Another part of Cost Engineering work is to support the change management process, calculating impact in tooling and product cost.
In you daily work you will be an active partner with PD supporting with Design to Cost – giving industrial engineering support giving advice on efficient designs for manufacturability and also on material selection that fulfils the design criteria's. You will negotiate together with purchasing both in the initial sourcing and in the change management process.
You will take in-depth technical discussions with supplier in their production lines or lay-outs about cost drivers and investments.
You will be required to frequently visit suppliers / technical exhibitions, this in order to be aware of current production methods and materials, but also future technologies that will be used when our trucks goes into production.

Main Responsibilities:
Understand the cost of production at the production sites of cathode active material (cam), precursors to cathode active materials (p-cam), battery recycling and anode active material (aam) – A special tool within Cost Engineering is available to calculate the costs. We expect you to know the production process.
Understand the equipment required to produce cam, p-cam and recycling of batteries – this includes both machines and the tools.
Frequent visits to the producers to understand the process and the materials required to produce them.
Energy costs & maintenance downtime of the manufacturing lines
Understand the market and causes of price fluctuation.
Cooperate cross-functionally both within cost engineering as well as with buyers, engineers, project leaders, module managers.
Cost calculations should be shared internally within cost engineering as well as purchasing teams for better cost understanding.
Should be ready for a frequent travel to different companies within China.


Who are you?
As a person you are easy to cooperate with and are willing to contribute to the team. You are also able to take your own initiatives and can work independently. It's important that you are analytic and structured. We also believe that you are interested in both the commercial and technical aspects of our products and projects and that you are comfortable with negotiations.

Requirments:
You have a bachelor degree in engineering (Preferably metallurgical or mining) or equivalent experience.
Specialist knowledge in at least one of the fields: cam, p-cam, battery recycling or aam production. Knowledge about the raw materials used to produce cam, p-cam and battery recycling.
Previous work experience as: Production Engineer / Quality Engineer / Manufacturing Engineer / Process Engineer / Maintenance Engineer / Product developer either in cam, p-cam or battery recycling company
Knowledge in finance is an advantage
Fluent in both English and Chinese
High interpersonal skills
Ability to drive projects independently
Analytic mindset with cultural awareness
Team player with great communication skills
Driving license to move across China
