The International School of Älmhult has grown rapidly since it opened in year 2000 and has a current population of over 400 students in a brand new school building.
WORK TASKS
The International School of Älmhult was authorised for The International Baccalaureate's Primary Years Programme in May 2003 and for The Middle Years Programme in May 2009. The school has a friendly atmosphere, classes are small and all lessons are given in English.
We are now looking for a maternity cover Special Pedagogue. As a Special Pedagogue in the MYP Team, the main objective is to provide an environment for staff and students to thrive regardless of their individual needs. The special pedagogue meets with teachers as well as students to identify whether the needs lie in developing the teacher to reach each student or in a creation an adaptation for the child. This requires the individual in this position, to be flexible, to collect all evidence and data regarding a particular case before making any changes/adaptation or recommendations. In this role the special pedagogue is also a part of creating a safe and welcoming environment for all types of students. The person needs to collaborate and will have an integral part in the MYP Core team.
QUALIFICATIONS
The successful applicant will have an adequate level of education, such as Special Pedagogue or equal. We also want you to have experience from working in an international environment, as well as knowledge and experience of the IB curriculum and pedagogy.

• Is good at meeting people where their needs are and good at understanding that both students and teachers have different needs of support

• Has experience with supporting teachers when creating an inclusive learning environment
