The Position
Expansive Worlds is currently looking for an Experienced Sound Designer to join our Call of the Wild development team either in Malmö or Stockholm. As an Audio Designer, you will work closely with our implementation and design teams using our editors and scripting languages, as well as middleware solutions and standard audio editors. The Avalanche Studio Group audio pipeline is design driven, so you will enjoy great freedom in your designs as you implement these designs into the game from start to finish.
As a Sound Designer you will be part of a tight and highly motivated team that strives to create the best sound experiences possible in games. In the role you will be expected to work with teams such as gameplay, world design, animation and UI to maintain and bring the sound of COTW to life and ensure audio feedback is present where required..
Qualified candidates must have a passion for audio (particularly environmental soundscapes), a feel for music and a solid grasp of theoretical concepts such as sonic perspective, layered textures and abstract vs. concrete sound design as well as more tangible concepts such as gain structure, and basic digital audio principals.
Responsibilities
• To understand, uphold and contribute to what makes the soundscape of COTW unique and appreciated by it's players.
• Design sound effects and audio assets for in-game and linear formats.
• Integrate audio into our in-house game engine Apex using audio middleware, in-house proprietary tools and scripting.
• Partner and collaborate with non-audio team members to create the high quality audio that supports the game's vision and audio direction.
• Edit dialog and music, mix and master assets and deliver within project milestones.
• Record, editing and organization of source material and sound libraries.
• Troubleshoot issues and bugs related to audio content.
Required Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years working as a sound designer in the games industry (film industry experience appreciated).
• Strong understanding of sound implementation, audio systems and workflows the process of taking your design all the way from concept to in game.
• Proficiency at integrating audio using middleware (FMOD).
• Ability to take direction with sound design tasks.
• Experience in field and studio recording, microphones placement as well as audio signal flow and new standard loudness understanding.
• Proficiency in common audio tools and DAWs (Reaper, Nuendo, ProTools, etc) as well as industry standard plugins (Izotope RX, Fabfilter, Waves, etc).
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to edit and navigate within XML and Python scripts.
• Highly motivated and good at communicating.
• Independent and able to take ownership.
• Wwise experience while not required for the role will be beneficial.
