The arena
The goals of the global R&D Information (RDI) organization are to enhance R&D productivity and decision making by improving the scientific and commercial information discoverability, accessibility and connectivity, regardless of source or format. This is done through partnering with IMED (Innovative Medicines & Early Development) and GMD (Global Medicines Development) teams and providing world-class expertise in Informatics and Scientific Information & Technology solutions to accelerate the drug pipeline. Focus is on developing the information platform and informatics tools to support drug project teams.
The Role
The role will be accountable for architecting and designing comprehensive solutions that meet business requirements in support of a given portfolio. The Architect will partner with project managers, business analysts, and other architects to create solutions that are aligned to AZ architecture standards and principles, leverage common solutions and services, and meet the financial targets (cost and benefits).
The role holder should deliver tangible and measurable value to the business, by taking a leading technical role in delivery of scientific IT solutions via programs/projects and/or services and develop our capabilities in the areas of application and infrastructure design, implementation and lifecycle management.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
• Establish working relationships with the customer groups to develop an in-depth understanding of business priorities and early insight into changing needs in order to inform and shape demand.
• Driving solution evaluation and selection decisions, buy vs. build decisions, and early-phase project estimates which contribute to the creation of business case.
• Lead the architecture and design of comprehensive set of solutions that meet business requirements, drives innovation.
• Contribute to technical development efforts originating from portfolio, participate in IT initiatives and provide active guidance for better planning and decision making in programs/projects and services.
• Ensure that architecture decisions support both the business and IT strategy, and that architectures delivered are compliant with relevant AstraZeneca architecture standards, blueprints and roadmaps.
