We are the largest research center within ABB and have a strong competence in applied mechanics supporting the innovation in both power technology and automation areas. Our multicultural research center consists of approximately 250 scientists from 45 different countries.
As Solid Mechanics Scientist you will be part of The Applied Mechanics and Acoustics group, providing field expertise to ABB business units worldwide and working across the whole range of ABB products. You will be a specialist within solid mechanics regarding one or several of the following areas: finite element analysis, fatigue and fracture mechanics, constitutive modeling or contact mechanics. You will initiate and run various assignments requiring you to develop project proposals matching needs within ABB and lead larger projects. Moreover, you eventually will run a specialist area in which you will become one of the leading experts.
This role will provide you with the opportunity to cooperate with universities and institutes, pursue a specialist career and eventually form your own work tasks. The work content and environment holds a high technical level.
Requirements
As our successful candidate you facilitate teamwork and develop good relationships. You focus on good results and execution, analyze and propose solutions and have the ability to organize as well as prioritize.
Further, you hold:
• A Ph.D. within solid mechanics along with relevant experience or alternatively a Master of Science with long experience from solid mechanics simulations.
• A solid background within Finite Element Analysis
• A solid background within fatigue and fracture mechanics, dynamics or constitutive modeling.
• Proficiency in English, Swedish is an advantage.
Additional experience from project management, academic research projects, the simulation programs Abaqus and Comsol and programming are meriting. Perhaps you currently work within the academy, as specialists consult or at an R&D department within a large industry company.
