Role Summary
The Software Update Management System (SUMS) Regulatory Owner is responsible for ensuring that all software updates comply with relevant regulations and standards throughout the vehicle lifecycle.
This role involves planning and coordinating required certification activities together with the certification engineer, communicating with technical services, and ensuring robust processes are in place to maintain the quality and safety of in-vehicle software updates.
As legal requirements in this area continue to evolve-such as UNECE R156, GB 44496-2024, and other upcoming regulations-the SUMS Regulatory Owner plays a critical role in ensuring the organization remains compliant and future-ready. In addition, SUMS processes must align with broader management systems including ISO 9001, ISO 27001, functional safety, and cybersecurity standards.
Additionally, you will contribute to the development and integration of embedded compliance and tracking mechanisms, including IVD (integrity validation data) and RxSWIN (Software Identification Number), to support certification, audit readiness, and over-the-air update transparency.

Job Responsibilities
As the Software Update Management System (SUMS) Regulatory Owner, you will play a key role in ensuring our software update processes meet global regulatory requirements and industry standards. Your responsibilities will include:
Leading regulatory compliance efforts related to software updates, including interpreting and implementing standards such as ISO 24089 and UNECE R156.
Driving and supporting lobbying activities in relevant regulatory forums (e.g., OICA, ISO, UNECE) to stay ahead of emerging requirements.
Analyzing, maintaining, and continuously developing the current SUMS, ensuring alignment with technical documentation and compliance frameworks.
Supporting the certification process for SUMS-related regulations, collaborating with certification bodies and internal stakeholders.
Defining, implementing, and improving internal processes related to software update development and deployment (e.g., change management, version control, audit readiness).
Collaborating cross-functionally with product development, IT, cybersecurity, legal, and customer service teams to ensure end-to-end compliance and seamless integration of updates.
