The opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Software Tools Developer to design, develop, and maintain specialized software tools essential for the engineering and testing of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) control and protection systems. This role is crucial for enhancing efficiency and accuracy in our HVDC projects.
How you ́ll make an impact
Develop and maintain software tools for HVDC control and protection system design, simulation, and testing.
Implement algorithms and methodologies for data acquisition, processing, and analysis related to HVDC systems.
Collaborate with HVDC engineers and protection specialists to understand requirements and translate them into robust software solutions.
Design and develop user interfaces for various tools, ensuring usability and efficiency.
Perform debugging, testing, and validation of developed software tools.
Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for software tools, including design specifications, user manuals, and test plans.
Provide technical support and training to end-users of the developed tools.
Stay updated with the latest software development trends, HVDC technology, and industry best practices.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of development processes and methodologies.

Your background
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience in software development, preferably in an industrial or engineering context.
Strong proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Python, or Java.
Experience with scripting languages (e.g., MATLAB, Python) for automation and data analysis.
Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
Understanding of power systems, electrical engineering principles, or HVDC technology is a significant advantage.
Experience with HMI/SCADA development or real-time control systems is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.
