At Axis, we are "Innovating for a smarter, safer world." In our Access Control product area, we build the core technology that secures buildings, assets, and people globally. We are looking for a skilled Software Test Engineer to join one of our most critical firmware development teams, right here at our global HQ in Lund. This isn't just another software testing role. You will be the quality champion for the embedded firmware that powers our door controllers and card readers-the very heart of our physical security ecosystem.

What you'll do here as a Test Engineer
You will be embedded within a highly experienced agile scrum team. This team is the crucial bridge between pure software and electronic engineering; they write the first line of code that runs on new hardware. Your mission will be to ensure our firmware is robust, reliable, and secure from the earliest development stages. Your key responsibilities will include:
* Leading firmware quality in hardware projects: Take the firmware QA lead role in our new hardware projects. You will plan, coordinate, and execute the complete test plans/strategy, from the first prototype to the final product
* Deep, hands-on testing: Go beyond the surface. Perform detailed manual and automated testing of firmware features, focusing on stability, performance, security, and hardware interaction
* Driving "Shift-Left" further: Collaborate directly with developers in your scrum team to integrate testing early and often, catching issues "close to the metal" before they escalate
* Building a sustainable future: Actively contribute to our long-term quality strategy by improving test methods, expanding our automation frameworks (we love Python!), and identifying new tools and techniques
* Ensuring reliability and usability: from a customer perspective
Who are we looking for?
We're looking for someone with strong technical curiosity and a collaborative spirit. You are pragmatic, take initiative, and enjoy the challenge of working in a senior, fast-paced team. You will be a perfect fit if you have:
* Proven experience: 3-5 years in software testing within a scrum team, with a strong preference for experience in embedded systems, firmware, or IoT products
* A leader's mindset: You are comfortable planning and leading test activities for a project, coordinating with other testers and developers, and reporting on quality status
* Technical skills: You have experience with both manual and automated software testing. You aren't afraid to read a datasheet, connect a logic analyzer, or write a script to solve a problem
* Collaborative skills: You possess excellent communication skills and can articulate technical issues and quality insights to developers, product managers, and other stakeholders
* A customer-centric view: You naturally think about how the end-user will experience the product's reliability and usability
It would be fantastic if you also have experience with:
* Scripting/programming for test automation (e.g., Python, C)
* Performance, stress, and long-term stability testing
* Basic hardware debugging tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes)
* Leveraging AI-assisted tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot) for tasks such as generating test ideas, coding test scripts, or analyzing results
* CI/CD tools and environments (e.g., Jenkins, Git)
