Are you a senior leader in software engineering ready to manage high-integrity development for the rail industry?
Randstad is currently seeking a driven and experienced Software Manager for an exciting consulting assignment in Stockholm on behalf of our client, Alstom. Alstom is a global leader in the transportation sector, pioneering sustainable and smart mobility solutions. As a Software Manager, you will hold full responsibility for the software development work package. Your role is to ensure that development activities meet quality, cost, and delivery (QCD) commitments while coordinating teams across different geographical locations. We are looking for a leader who excels in planning and stakeholder communication in a fast-paced, technical environment.
Responsibilities
Your focus will be on the governance, execution, and reporting of the software development lifecycle:
Work Package Ownership: Produce and maintain the work package file and provide consolidated reporting on progress and performance.
Project Planning: Define and manage the software project management plan, including timelines, resources, and budget allocation.
Strategic Contribution: Collaborate with architects and managers to define plans for software engineering, V&V (Verification and Validation), configuration, and quality.
Lead Development: Organize software design reviews and lead all development activities until final completion.
Global Coordination: Manage activities performed by subcontractors or teams in Low Labour Cost Countries (LLCC).
Change Management: Participate in the product Change Control Board (CCB) to manage commitments and requirement changes.

Qualifications
We are looking for candidates with a strong background in software engineering within regulated industries.
Education: Engineering degree is mandatory; a Master's degree is highly desirable.
Industry Experience: Proven experience in railway software development is mandatory.
Software Expertise: Experience in developing vital or secure (safety-critical) software is a strong advantage.
Leadership Track Record: Experience in tracking team performance and implementing improvements to enhance development success.
Global Mindset: Ability to work with remote collaborators and other engineering teams in an international setting.
Your Personal Competencies
Communication: Excellent oral and written English communication skills are required.
Problem Solving: Ability to identify areas for improvement and alert the structure regarding risks to QCD commitments.
Collaborative Leadership: Strong cross-functional collaboration skills to ensure software meets all stakeholder expectations.
