Whats in it for you
This role is within our Consumer Commercial Digital Products (CCDP) team, which is using digital technologies to reinvent the experience of becoming a Volvo customer. There's no reason the experience of buying a car should be painful and difficult - it should be as enjoyable and exciting as actually having a new car. That is our mission. This is a rapidly growing team, and we are looking for outstanding people who will be some of the earliest hires in their function, helping to establish it at Volvo Cars.
You will be responsible for developing front end (or full stack) software for consumer facing products and e-commerce solutions across more than 80 countries. Your responsibilities will include rapid development of prototypes/concepts, and regular product development.
You will also be responsible for hiring, leading, and managing a team of software engineers to design and create new consumer applications that reach Volvo's customers. You should have start-up experience where you have quickly developed prototypes and catalysed product development in a fast paced, fluid environment. You are a hands-on developer with front-end experience while you are hiring and building the team. You are experienced with agile development and a champion of software development best practices.
This position is located in Volvo's new Stockholm Software Technology Centre or in Volvo's Gamlestaden office in Gothenburg.
You and your skills
We think that you have:
* Bachelor's Degree
* Minimum 3 years work experience developing front-end software
* Strong software design skills and knowledge of design patterns
* Expertise in and experience developing consumer-facing products
* Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and associated tools (Jira) and CI/CD best practices
To succeed in this role you need to have experience as a front-end software engineer, designing and creating code, and served as a tech lead. You have knowledge of front end development, including responsive interfaces, single page applications and using modern JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, or Bootstrap. We at Volvo Cars are using React.
You got knowledge of HTML5 and CSS along with authoring tools and have understanding of Service Oriented Architectures and experience with SiteCore or CMS development is important. Through your career you have gained strong understanding of multiple language, including 2+ of JavaScript, Java, C#, Python, Scala, or Ruby. You also have experience developing code with AWS, Google App Engine, Azure, or other major cloud providers. It's also important that you have the ability to do technical interviewing, to assist with building a high functioning team of software engineers.
In this role you will spend the majority of your time hands on development of software and the rest of your time you will spend as the manager of a development team. You will have the responsibility for hiring, compensation, and employee career development for your group.
We think that you share our passion for cars and developments in the auto industry. If you have Full-stack development experience it is a big plus. Understanding of CMS systems, such as Drupal and SiteCore and also understanding of Microsoft .NET and Azure technologies is considered as preferred qualifications just like experience developing mobile applications.
