AMRA was founded in 2010 as a spin-off of Linköping University, Sweden, with the aim to support transformative care and vital decision-making, from clinical research to health and wellness. Today we are more than 60 employees, operating in the US, European and Asian market, with the need to expand further.
The company has developed a new global standard in body composition assessment, the ability to automatically produce multiple fat and muscle biomarkers with unrivaled precision and accuracy, as well as contextual disease insights - all from a single whole-body MRI.
We work with the world's leading pharma companies and academic hospitals.
Grow into an expert generalist in a medical device environment
We are expanding our development team to increase capacity and support our growth. In this role, your curiosity, initiative, and genuine interest in software engineering are what matter most.
You will contribute to software used in a medical context, where quality and reliability truly matter. This is a chance to grow into an expert generalist - someone who understands systems broadly while building deep expertise in selected areas.
What you'll do
As a software engineer in our team, your work will include:
Interacting directly with in-house users to understand their workflows, gather feedback, and improve the software
Collaborating closely with colleagues in technical discussions, problem-solving, and design
Supporting users and using real-world feedback to improve software quality and reliability
Taking increasing responsibility of systems and workflows as you grow
Exploring areas such as automation, deployment, and DevOps practices
You will work across the full software lifecycle - from idea to deployment and support - gaining broad experience while contributing to high quality, regulated software.
Who you are and what you bring
You are curious by nature and genuinely interested in software engineering. You are motivated by understanding how systems work end to end and enjoy growing beyond your current skill set. You have an understanding of software design principles and enjoy applying them in practice.
You work well with others, communicate clearly, and value collaboration. You take ownership of your work, are humble in your approach, and respect the knowledge and perspectives of your colleagues. You are comfortable working carefully and systematically in a regulated environment, where quality and accuracy matter.
You are customer- and support-oriented, and you appreciate the value of interacting directly with users to improve both the software and the user experience. You see support and feedback as opportunities to learn and to build better systems.
You hold a Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field such as Physics or MedTech.
Experience or strong interest in any of the following areas is considered a plus
Python programming
AI, machine learning, or image analysis
Relational databases
UX and usability
Test-driven development
CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
Cyber Security
Cloud environments
Medical devices or other regulated products
What we offer
You will join a research-oriented MedTech company where technology and science come together to help people live healthier lives. You'll be part of a small, highly competent team of experienced and dedicated colleagues who support one another and share knowledge openly. Thoughtful discussions, technical depth, and collaboration are central to how we work.
As a smaller company, we offer significant freedom in how solutions are designed and built. You'll have real opportunities to influence how we work, how our systems evolve, and how our teams are shaped as we grow. Here, your voice matters, your work has visible impact, and your development as an engineer is something we genuinely care about.
The role is based at AMRA's main office in Linköping. We work closely with colleagues in the UK and the US, so fluency in both Swedish and English is important. We believe in the value of meeting in person and aim for a strong office presence, while offering flexibility to work from home part of the time.
