What You'll Do:
You will be part of an agile team, working closely with other software engineers, testers, and architects. You will collaborate with tools team, CI/CD team and other communities to define a coherent end-to-end solution. Being part of the Engineering organization, you will have the opportunity to actively contribute to generating innovative ideas and solutions. This position is located at our office in Lindholmen, Gothenburg.
In this role, your main responsibilities will be to lead the test framework work, operate the system and make it ready for testers to use. You will be the bridge between development and test by developing new enables in the automated test system. By being strong in Python we see that you daily are working with emulators, create and maintain test enablers such as mocks for external interfaces.
Additionally, you will troubleshoot, fault trace, and debug issues to ensure our systems meet Volvo's high safety standards. Continuously evaluating and enhancing our test environments to meet the needs of future vehicle platforms will also be part of your responsibilities.
What you'll bring
You have gained strong programming fundamentals in C/C++ and Python, through several years of experience in the field. You have also developed a deep understanding of a complex distributed system, data structures and data communication.
You have the ability to break down and deeply understand complex problems and are also skilled in communicate complex matters efficiently. You are a strong problem solver, always optimizing for the simplest, most robust yet practical solutions. You enjoy being part of a team, you are described as a reliable, dependable and trustworthy member. You are a smart but humble person with bias for action!
You have the ability to self-start and self-direct work in an unstructured environment, comfortable dealing with ambiguity. If you previously work with problem-framing and prioritizing, it's beneficial as well as experience from managing a broad stakeholder base and projects would be.
In general, we are looking for a Mid-level Embedded Software Engineer (non-application developer) with Python language skills (C/C++ is optional).
To be successful in this role, your experience likely includes:
• Embedded Software Development of complex software products using Python in Linux development environment
• Embedded OS or Linux / QNX / AUTOSAR
• Test automation experience with Pytests
• Working in a CI environment
• Fluency in spoken and written English
