Shifo's Vision is "A day when no child dies or suffers from preventable diseases". And Shifo is working to develop and implement solutions that ensure children can be registered and receive unique personal numbers, and that children are followed up to ensure they receive quality preventive health services.
Shifo is currently focusing its efforts to strengthen health systems in Africa and Asia.
We are current looking for a software engineer who would like to join the technology team and help Shifo to get closer to its vision.
System/software development is an integral part of Shifo where we work hard to bring the best experience to the end-users by developing among others healthcare applications, transparency systems and much more.
Shifo Team are quite an international bunch of people, who were working previously at KTH, Karolinska University Hospital, Karolinska Institutet, and we decided to dedicate ourselves to this cause. And we are based in Stockholm, Sweden.
We hire for attitide rather than competence, so below expectations are only a desired checklist:
• You love turning ideas into working code
• You have minimum of 2 years of experience in development of software applications/platform and understanding human computer interaction
• Experience in web development and knowledge/understanding of Python, Pandas, Docker
• Knowledge in front-end technologies and libraries such as HTML5, CSS3, LESS, JavaScript, jQuery
• Experience in administration and development in PostgreSQL, MySQL databases
• Disciplined approach to test-driven development, A/B testing, and metrics-driven decision making.
• Experience working with Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
• Strong problem solving skills with the ability of debugging and troubleshooting
• English language proficiency (spoken and written)

Shifo Foundation is a non-profit organisation based in Sweden. Shifo's vision is a day when no child dies or suffers from preventable diseases. Shifo develops solutions based on Smart Paper Technology to enable relevant and quality data for use to drive continuous improvement in quality of care and health outcomes for women and children during ante, intra, post-natal and child health services.
Four indicators are crucial for Shifo - 1) enabling child registration and individual health records for more than 99% of all children, no matter where they live, 2) minimising administration for health workers by 60% per beneficiary, 3) ensuring data quality of electronic medical records is above 99% for all health service delivery points, and 4) more than 95% of health centres perform continuous actions to improve quality of health service delivery, based on key performance indicators.
