The mFoundation is a Membership Engagement & Loyalty platform that gathers, enriches and deeply understands the behaviour of our IKEA Family Members and measures, optimises, and enables context-aware loyalty experiences, driving measurable value for both our members and the business.
As a Software Engineer you will also contribute working on the solution design about how we scape the membership experience for millions of people around the world. You are passionate about empowering teams and providing sound technical products. You want to make a difference in the world, and you are relentless even in challenging times.
You share our vision, and you believe good software is an essential ingredient of achieving that vision. We believe you have a great understanding of what simplicity and togetherness mean. You know when to take and to give responsibility for what needs to be done. You care about your team and its software, and you continuously push for improvements in quality and speed. Together, we will design, develop, deploy, release, and run our applications.
We're looking for Software Engineer (backend), preferably stronger on Kotlin. Don't hesitate to apply even otherwise. We're more interested in your ability to learn, adapt, and take ownership.
Your responsibilities
Examples of your core responsibilities will be:
• Believe in taking a pragmatic approach and value simplicity when building new solutions.
• Are you curious and see failure as an opportunity to learn and push your skills?
• Comfortable building microservice architecture using modern Object-Oriented Programming language including Java & Kotlin, our current tech stack is primarily Java, Kotlin, GitHub Actions, Kubernetes (GKE), Postgres, Pub Sub, Terraform.
• Able to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient services based on DevOps principles.
• Familiar with cloud computing platforms – preferably GCP, but other platforms are great too!
• An understanding of modern observability practices such as distributed tracing, structured logging and metrics.
• Hands-on experience with monitoring & alerting tools like Context, Grafana, Elasticsearch.
• Have great written and verbal communication skills
Who you are
• You have 5+ years of software engineering experience with strong leadership skills, specializing in web development, with an Agile/DevOps mindset, and leading through change.
• You are passionate about high-quality software, leading diverse teams, and embracing technology, innovation, and IKEA's culture and values in both independent and collaborative settings.
• You demonstrate extensive knowledge of software engineering practices, industry-standard toolsets, design and architecture concepts, and technology capabilities.
• You develop high-quality code, promote agile practices, lead and coach teams, actively acquire new skills, and understand the integration of technology within IKEA's business.
