Do you want to contribute to top quality medical research?
We are looking for a passionate Software Engineer to maintain and to improve the Molecular Tumor Board Portal, a clinical decision support system to guide molecular based medicine in cancer (see here for more details).

MTB-portal is a tool to harness research knowledge for patient benefit. The system is used by 7 European comprehensive cancer centers as a clinical and sequencing data repository, a tool for tumor molecular profiles interpretation, and a framework to report results.

The position will be placed in the Cancer proteomics Mass spectrometry research group headed by Professor Janne Lehtiö at Science for Life Laboratory (SciLifeLab). The Lehtiö group is a translational group of scientists with a drive to improve human proteome analysis by developing new methods that can be applied to improve personalized cancer treatment.

Your mission
Software Engineer responsibilities include gathering user requirements, defining system functionality and writing code in various languages, like HTML, Javascript, Python and PHP. Our ideal candidate is familiar with the software development life cycle (SDLC) from preliminary system analysis to tests and deployment.

Ultimately, the role of the Software Engineer is to build high-quality, innovative and fully performing software that complies with coding standards and technical design.

Responsibilities:

- Execute full software development life cycle (SDLC)
- Write well-designed, well-documented, testable code
- Integrate software components into a fully functional software system
- Document and maintain software functionality
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing systems
- Deploy programs and evaluate user feedback
- Ensure software is updated with latest features

Your profile
Qualifications /Requirements:

- BSc degree, preferably in Computer Science, Engineering, Graphic Design or relevant fields
- Proven work experience as a Software Engineer or Web Developer
- Ability to develop software in Javascript (and JS libraries), Python 3, HTML and PHP
- Proficiency in Git
- Proficiency in Singularity containers
- Good knowledge of relational databases
- Ability to document requirements and specifications
- Fluent in English language, both spoken and written

Merits:

- Ability to design an impressive web template for web applications
- Good knowledge in graphics libraries such as D3
- Deep understanding of Linux server environments

Since the position involves close interaction with several researchers, emphasis is placed on personal skills such as:

- Very good collaborative skills
- Excellent communication and analytical skills
