Our group Electronic Control Unit (ECU) Architecture currently consists of 18 people and we work with base technologies in HW/SW primarily realised in the ECU's in the cars, such as Software Download (SWDL), Diagnostic Communication, Network Management, Car configuration, Data Security and Autosar/SW Platform. The section Diagnostics and ECU Platform is responsible for all base technologies in the electrical platform, which forms the fundament for all electronic control units in the entire electrical system. The section is a part of Electrics/Electronics & Chassis within Volvo Car Groups Research and Development division.
SWDL is the base technology used by ECU's to download software in our factories and at workshops. This is an intensive technical area with new development such as Over The Air and delta updates. We now need to strengthen our resources within the SWDL team and your contributions in this area will be vital. As SWDL Base Tech Developer you will be working with base technologies, which means that you establish and develop relationships with designers within almost all system areas of the vehicle. In this position you will therefore build and maintain a wide personal network both within R&D as well as in the factory and aftermarket organisations. You will work within a group consisting of several specific skills within the SWDL area.
Main responsibilities
• Develop SWDL technologies for electronic control units regarding SW&HW
• Supply, analyse and evaluate proposals to new or revised technical solutions to improve the base technology
• Support testing of SWDL and update of specifications, test methods, tools & processes
• Support and spread knowledge regarding SWDL to our internal ECU teams, suppliers, verification teams, factory engineering and aftermarket
• Support coordination of time requirements for SW downloads in our factories and in the aftermarket
• Diagnostic Communication may also be a part of the responsibility.
Required qualifications
• At least B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
• Knowledge of distributed electrical systems and electrical architecture
• Experience from SW, HW or system development
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Knowledge of base technologies within HW/SW Platform or experience in SWDL development is meritorious
• Programming knowledge is meritorious
