The Axis Audio Manager Edge firmware team in the New Business organization has the full responsibility for the backend of the built-in audio configuration system run on Axis audio devices. The system is at the core of our audio offering and is included in every device we sell.
Axis Audio Manager Edge enables customers to set up a cohesive audio experience across multiple devices, in for instance a store or school. It allows building a detailed site structure and supports abilities such as advanced scheduling and prioritization of music and announcements, making callouts, calibrating sound levels and much more.
The team consists of developers with broad and mixed competences, both senior and more recently graduated engineers. The team also has a dedicated tester to help assure high quality deliveries. The team works very self-directed and autonomous to meet the goals set by the strategic roadmap and backlog. We value teamwork, continuous improvements, and shared responsibility. We pride ourselves in great deliveries.
Our code is mainly written in C, but we also use other languages such as Python and Rust. Our deliveries cover built in services for configuration, scheduling and cross-device communication using REST, JSON, MQTT among other technologies.
Among the more interesting challenges to work on you'll find device communication in a complex site structure, building a robust yet flexible system, cloud connectivity, and the need to make sure it all works in a wide variety of customer environments. We strive to use an open platform and open standards which fits well with Axis company core value Always Open.
We also remember to relax with Axis much appreciated morning "fika" or a round of table tennis. You are welcome to use the gym, group trainings and space for floor ball that we have in our main building. Or simply have something to drink with your colleagues after work of course. What you'll do here as Software engineer?
As software engineer, you will be part of a skilled agile team and you will play an important role in delivering new and innovative features and products.
What you can expect to spend your days on:
* Analyzing requirements and designing the best solution for both business and the system, without losing track of long-term maintainability.
* Writing and reviewing code for new features and continuously improving our system.
* Performance improvements and the inevitable bug fixing.
* Having real devices at your desk to really get a feel for how it works when you run your code.
* Sharing knowledge within, and outside of, your team and colleagues.
* Collaboration and innovation across all of Axis.
Who are we looking for/Who are you?
We are looking for a person who has an interest in understanding both the big picture as well as the details of your deliveries. An experienced engineer with good knowledge of both system design and hands-on coding. We hope to find someone who will not only contribute to the system, but also to the team, with your previous experience from other areas and ways of working. You are comfortable with taking initiative and take responsibility for, and pride in, your accomplishments. And you are open to learn, but also willing to share your knowledge, experience, and ideas with us. An interest in new technologies and a drive to introduce these is also beneficial. I can promise that we are willing, and eager, to hear what you have to say!
We'd love to hear that you have/are:
* A master's degree with focus on software engineering, or equivalent experience
* Comfortable, and recent experience, with development in C
* Experience of high level backend (user space) services on Linux devices
* Knowledge of Python
It's a bonus if you have any combination of these skills
* REST APIs
* Rust
* Agile development
* Experience of Git/Gerrit, Yocto/BitBake and Jenkins
* Understanding of network programming and related protocols such as MQTT, RTP, HTTP and WebSockets
