Skype is a social multiplatform and includs not only audio but also video and text. They are well known for their great quality in audio/video.
The company has about 1600 people employed globaly and the Stockholm office houses around 90 of those and around 20 different nationalities is represented here. This Engineer Office is growing rapidly and we are now looking for a Software Developer to the Video department.
Skype Video Development Team is creating technology that enables high quality, multi-way, multi-modal, multi-platform video communications experience over the Internet. The video team is responsible for delivering the Skype Video Engine for Skype Desktop clients as well as Mobile and Embedded devices. The work is done by a set of small teams (4-6 people) each focusing on particular aspects of our product. We practice agile.
As a member of the Video Processing team you will be engaged at the forefront of Skype's innovation of breakthrough solutions to real-time IP video communication on heterogeneous networks. You will be expected to play an active role in the generation, development, verification and delivery of new concepts and methods for video coding as well as pre- and post-processing of real-time video for enhanced quality.
To be an interesting candidate you have substantial experience of H.264 AVC/SVC video codec algorithms development. You must have developed algorithms for a video codec that went to production phase. You also have detailed understanding of underlying technology behind H.264 AVC/SVC and understanding of real-time requirements and error resilience toolset of H.264. Command of programming languages including Matlab, C, and C++ is essential and also excellent command of English. It is a big plus if you have understanding of signaling protocol for video and multiplatform development experience.
