The Safety Electronics department has been one of the fastest growing parts of Volvo Car Group over the last decade due to rapid development of Active Safety systems and functionality. By continuously launching innovative and world first active safety features Volvo Cars has positioned itself among the leaders in the automotive industry and now the work towards achieving our vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo continues.



Safety Electronics consists of approximately 100 employees. Within the department we develop systems for Autonomous Drive, Collision Avoidance, Automatic Parking, Driver Support and Protective Safety. Through sensor fusion sensors such as Radars, Lidars, Ultrasonic sensors, Cameras, Accelerometers and pressure sensors are combined to create an awareness of the vehicle surroundings that can be used to realize many different Driver Assistance and Safety related functions to support the customer.



We are involved in all aspects of the product development process, from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialization of these systems in accordance with Volvo Product Development System, VPDS.



The Near Field Sensing group are now looking for two Software Design Engineers to join our team. As a SW Design Engineer within Near Field Sensing you will work alongside a supplier to bring new automated parking functionality to market utilizing the latest ultrasonic technology in a fast paced and international working environment. The ultrasonic system is also an important contributor to the Autonomous Drive projects.



As a software design engineer you will be the owner of a software requirement specification (SWRS) with the overall responsibility to communicate and align all software related ultrasonic requirements with our supplier base as well as with VCG internal stakeholders. Additionally, the software design engineer is deeply involved in prioritizing the content for every software release and act as the development team's expert in VCG's software release processes.



Main responsibilities
Act as main contact for all software related questions to/from the supplier's developers and internal stakeholders (architects, function developers and test engineers)
Review the functional realisation (FR) specification and implement software related requirements into the software requirement specification (SWRS).
Defining signal interfaces and Logic Timing Constraints towards VCG Signal Database (SdB) team
Lead SW SOW (statement of work) related activities such as SW joint reviews (SWJR), SW delivery reviews (SWDR) and SW readiness reviews (SWRR).
Manage the team's software deliveries according to VCG SW release processes
Develop and align a diagnostic strategy and review its implementation in Carcom

Required qualifications
M.Sc. degree in engineering
2-5 years' experience from automotive industry
Excellent English skills, both verbal and written
Driver's license





Meritorious experience
Experience of requirements management
Experience from electronics or SW development or diagnostics
Experience from electronics or SW analysis & verification (A&V)
Experience from Volvo tools (Elektra, TCr, System Weaver, SDA)
Knowledge of Volvo base tech concepts (diagnostics, SWDL, VMM, .)
Knowledge of Volvo's Software and Quality Assurance and Development process (SW-SOW)
Knowledge of Volvo Production Development Process (VPDS)



Personal qualities
