Supportive Safety is a group within the section Safety Electronics that develops safety systems based on different types of sensors (ultrasonic, cameras and radars) for use in every day life. Supportive Safety is part of the section Safety Electronics alongside the other groups Preventive Safety, Protective Safety and Sensor Fusion.
As a Software Design Engineer within the group Supportive Safety you will work to maintain, develop and release software for the Parking Assistance Systems (PAS) into Volvo Cars production systems. The PAS system realises customer functions like Front and Rear Parking Assistance and Semi-Automatic Parking. We are involved all the way from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialisation of the systems according to Volvo's Global Product Development System.
Main responsibilities
• Responsibility to develop a software component that fulfils the requirements from technical, real-time and cost perspective
• Responsibility to plan, implement and follow up the development of software components from external component suppliers
• Responsibility for the Software Requirement Specification
• To develop software plans to agree with the project milestones
• To support the purchasing organisation in the quotation process
• Release specifications and documents in Volvo Cars administrative system
• The daily work is performed in close cooperation with our supplier base in a creative and international work environment
Required qualifications
• M.Sc. degree in engineering or a B.Sc. degree combined with experience in automotive engineering
• Driver's license
• Excellent English, both verbally and written
• Meritorious is work related knowledge in the German language
Personal qualities
• You are able and willing to lead development efforts, with a strong delivery orientation
• You are able to summarise and report deliveries to internal and external stakeholders
• You have excellent communication skills to match the demands of an international work environment
• You are able to take a holistic view on the role of the Park Assist System in Volvo Car's total value chain
• You have a great interest in working with automotive safety and advanced supportive systems
