Software Design Engineer
The section of Safety Electronics has been a rapidly growing part of Volvo Car Group over the last decade. Active Safety is an area where Volvo, through continuous launching of new and innovative and world first safety features, has positioned itself among the leaders of the automotive industry. Now the work continues to reach our ambitious vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo. Within the department, we develop systems such as Collision Avoidance, Autonomous Drive, Full Automatic Parking, Driver Support and Protective Safety. To do this we use sensor systems based on sensor technologies such as Radar, Laser, Ultrasonic, Cameras and Accelerometers.
The group Safety Electronics Architecture within Safety Electronics has the mission to develop the next generation active safety and autonomous drive systems. We are involved in all aspects of the product development process, from early research and advanced engineering projects to industrialisation of the systems. Given the challenges and complexity within the Active Safety area we have the possibility to strengthen our team with a Software Design Engineer in the ongoing industrialization and advanced engineering programs.
As Software Design Engineer you will be a part of the team that is leading the technical development of the next generation active safety and autonomous drive systems. You will be responsible for designing software components that meet the requirements with respect to technical, time and cost perspectives. You are responsible for the development of the SWRS (SoftWare Requirement Specification) and you are the main contact person for the software requirements internally and towards external partners. The development work is executed in a creative international environment in close cooperation with suppliers. The area of Active Safety domain nodes is a rapidly growing technology branch. Therefor it is of importance to stay tuned with latest technical achievements within the industry.
Main responsibilities
* Manage development of software components that fulfils the requirements from technical, time and cost perspectives
* Plan and lead the development of software in cooperation with our component suppliers
* Secure that software components are verified in cooperation with component testers and component suppliers
* Manage technical design reviews, both internal reviews and supplier reviews
* Contribute to build-up of experience, by participation in the development of technology strategies within the area of competence
Qualifications
* M.Sc. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics or similar
* Experience of software design development in complex embedded systems
* Experience from structured work in a structured development process
* Experience of managing suppliers in an international environment
* Excellent English skills, both verbally and in writing
* Driver's licence (type B)
Meritorious
* Experience of Volvo Base Technologies (SWDL, Diagnostics, NWM etc)
* Experience of AutoSar and ISO26262
* Experience of LINUX/QNX systems
* Experience from an agile way of working
* Experience of software design both modelbased and non modelbased
* Experience of distributed embedded systems and multiprocessing
* Experience from working in requirement management tools such as System Weaver, Elektra or DOORS
