Software Architect-Active Safety and Vehicle Dynamics

This position is within the Driver Support & Software Integration group. The group is responsible for two different areas: The first area is development of Driver Support functions, designed to help the driver during normal driving and during parking situations. The second area is software support for the entire Active Safety & Vehicle Dynamics Function department. The team in this area consists of roles like Software Architect, Software Leader, Configuration Manager and Software Quality Assurance Manager. We also have a sub-team, responsible for Software Integration.

As a Software Architect, you will work in all phases of the software development of Active Safety & Vehicle Dynamics functionality. You will be an expert and make high-level design choices and define technical standards, including software coding standards, tools, and platforms. As a Software Architect you will also be responsible for ensuring that the defined software architecture is optimal with regards to functional decomposition, system safety, available resources and testability.

Main responsibilities

• Make architecture design choices during development
• Recognize potential reuse of (parts of) software components
• Subdivide a complex application, into smaller, more manageable pieces
• Grasp the functions of each software component
• Understand the interactions and dependencies among software components
• Communicate the above concepts to developers
• Track and assure optimization of the software's resource utilization (e.g. memory usage, stack usage, execution time, and ROM need)
• Estimate future software resource need in coming projects

Required qualifications

• M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science (or equivalent)
• At least 8-10 years of work experience in software development
• Experience from programming in general and C/C++ programming in particular
• Experience from development in Matlab/Simulink, including code generation
• Experience from working with software optimisation
• PhD within Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Computer Science or similar is meritorious
• Experience of product development, preferably within the automotive industry is meritorious
• Experience of working with ISO 26262 and AUTOSAR will be an asset
