Get to know us!
We at Charging are responsible for the development of major parts of hybrid and electric vehicle systems at Volvo Cars. The group Charging Software is responsible for delivering software functionality, in regards of actual software deliveries, but also diagnostics functionality, for the on-board charger (OBC).
The on-board charger is essential for electrified vehicles, it holds the functionality to charge the traction battery from the grid, and it is for sure of highest importance in a pure electric vehicle.
The biggest challenge with the DC-charging functionality of electrified vehicle is that half of the system is outside of the vehicle. The success of the charging-sequence is highly dependent on the implementation in the charging station done by other companies and that they interpret the standard in the same way as we do. We therefore need to do the uttermost we can in our SW/HW to make charging of the vehicle successful, both in AC and DC charging.
Our vision is to deliver the best in the market of Charging Software functionality and continuously evolve our way of working. We strive for a more modular software platform to cope with different configurations of the worldwide charging standards that are continuously updated.
What will you do?
As a Software Architect you will be part of an agile team that delivers "Application Software" for the on-board charger. We utilize a model-based development (MBD) process with Simulink and AUTOSAR framework/toolchain to realize functionality for different charging standards and logics in the vehicle.
You need to take an active role in understanding the software and coaching the team on where and how to implement new functionalities or improve the software to have a good maintainable, scalable and reusable structure. It is important to interact with Volvo internal teams and suppliers about software design solutions.
As a part of the agile team, together with other Software Developers, Software Testers and Sub Function Responsible, you are part of the process with daily meetings, sprint planning, time estimation and retrospective, all for the purpose to improve ourselves and the way of working.
You shall collaborate with system designers and define appropriate interfaces with other nodes and support the integration of other SW into our ECU.
Do you fit the profile?
We believe that you have at least a B. Sc. degree within engineering, preferably electronics, software engineering or equivalent competence. On top on this, you have some years' experience with Autosar defined interfaces, NVRAM, DEM, PNC and other "Basic Software" modules. We are a global company so a must for us is that you are fluent in English. Also, you should have a driving license (B), preferably you love cars as much as we do!
This is what you need to have. But we also have a few things that is nice to have! If you also have any of the following skills, we consider it to be meritorious:
* Experience with DaVinci software
* Experience of product development within the automotive industry
* Experience on how to develop complex embedded systems that are maintainable and scalable
* Knowledge of power electronics, especially on-board charger functionality
* Knowledge of charging standards like GBT27930, CHAdeMO or AC charging.
* CANoe/CANalyzer and INCA
* GIT, SVN.

In this role you need to be structured, driven and have good documentation skills. You are used to cooperate and communicate with different people in different roles, and you also have a flexible and business-oriented mind set. Other traits that we appreciate is integrity, courage, and energy.
