Simulator Developer - Virtual Test Environments

The section Strategy and Concepts within the department Powertrain Controls and Calibration is responsible for developing concepts and system solutions for propulsion systems including hybrid systems at Volvo Car Corporation vehicles and powertrain control systems.

The group Virtual Test Environments creates simulators for virtual testing and calibration as a complement to physical vehicle testing. The group consists of nine engineers and technical doctors working with development of simulation environments and controllable engine models. Our strategy to meet an increasing need for virtual environments is to strengthen our capability with regards to both complexity and volume. This is where we need you!

As a Simulator Developer you will be part of a team working with the development of one of our simulation environments. You will develop our Software In the Loop (SIL) environment used for testing and calibration of the engine control software, as well as engine control concept testing. You will work closely with other simulation and model developers. One of your responsibilities will be configuration management, such as version control, variant handling and release processes, as well as user interaction and integration. You will build a large network of simulator developers, software developers and testers, and be a key player in introducing the simulator into the everyday work of developers and testers.

Main responsibilities

• Development of SIL simulator environment and its system solutions with respect to engine and transmission control systems
• Configuration management of the environment, including version control, release management and variant handling
• Development of models for control system and actuators, including new powertrain models
• Maintain and troubleshoot existing application
• Support design and test engineers
• High quality documentation that supports traceability and redesign

Required qualifications

• M.Sc in Computer Science, Applied Physics, Mechatronic Engineering or equivalent
• Fluent in English, written and spoken
• Drivers licence B
• Experience of development of simulation environments is meritorious
• Experience of simulation in SIL environments is meritorious
• Experience from configuration management is meritorious
• Experience of software project is meritorious
