Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.The Scania Powertrain Performance and Analysis team are looking for a new team member. NEOS is a highly motivated and innovative team that consists of both test engineers (driving trucks) and calculation/simulation engineers (working with virtual trucks, i.e. models). The team together, is responsible for securing the vehicle property "Powertrain Performance and Driveability".

The person we are looking for will develop, maintain and use complete vehicle simulation models, as well as advanced in-house post-processing tools.

Our main tools are Matlab/Simulink. We develop physical models of the truck powertrain in Simscape, and control system functions in Simulink. We control the physical vehicle model, in a similar fashion as a real truck. It is necessary for you to have a solid foundation in Matlab/Simulink, and a good understanding of vehicle performance in general. You will be expected to be able to code in Matlab and to some extent Python as well.

Knowledge in powertrain hardware components and/or software development are important merits.

Most important personal characteristics of the applicant are - team spirit, and a willingness to learn. You will be expected to reach out to your colleagues to offer assistance without being asked for it. You will also need to be able to learn on the fly, and be inspired and motivated by such an environment. If you feel comfortable with routine tasks, and crisp and clear job descriptions - then this position is not for you.

Your tasks

Analyse and evaluate technical solutions to reach development targets for powertrain performance, including both electrified and conventional powertrains.

• Analyse and challenge existing powertrain concepts and suggest improvements for both the software and the hardware.
• Suggest new powertrain concepts that secures Scania's position as market leader in powertrains also in the future.
• Understand what functionality we need for the future and how the functionality is implemented into software.
• Deliver simulation and verification results to the organization through model based methods to improve lead time.
• Create and maintain models of the powertrain and its control system
• Cooperate cross-functionally with Scania R&D and other entities in the Traton group

Your profile

You are an engineer who is motivated by learning new things and solving problems. You are curious and likes to share your findings and knowledge with others. You hold a MSc- or a PhD-degree in electrical, physics or mechatronics engineering. You are experienced in analysing physical or mechatronic systems and software development. Programming foundationals, and skills in Matlab/Simulink is vital. If you have special competences in transmissions, engines or other powertrain components it is an asset. A valid Swedish driving licenses for heavy vehicles is an asset.
