The Research and Simulation group is part of Manufacturing Research and Concepts section. The research activities, projects and PhD students, of VCE are coordinated from this group. The areas of research can be everything from new production technologies and production flows to ergonomics, methodologies and way of working. The group is also responsible for the preparation of decision support information based on simulation, multi-objective optimization and data mining. The simulation technology mainly used is discrete event simulation for modelling and analyzing production flow. Furthermore, related research and methodology development is included in the responsibilities.
As a Simulation Engineer you will work closely with other engineers related to decision support using simulation, simulation-based optimization and data mining techniques. The tasks generally involves to build simulation models, run experiments, analyze the results, extract and present knowledge acquired from simulation studies. Most of the tasks are connected to projects, e.g. changes to existing production lines or simulation studies of new production lines in Sweden and China. Another important aspect of the position is methodology development, i.e. continue to develop methods and standards of Virtual Manufacturing. Furthermore, the work also includes supporting Advanced Engineering and research studies, and collaboration with universities regarding research and final year projects.
Required qualifications
* Bachelor of Science in Manufacturing Engineering or similar.
* Documented knowledge in discrete event simulation.
* Fluent in English, both written and spoken
* Documented experience in discrete event simulation is meritorious.
* Documented programming skills is meritorious.
* Experience from production and production engineering is meritorious.
