Simulation Engineer - Structural analysis transmission and transmission components
As the development times of new transmissions get shorter and shorter in the automotive industry, the capacity to accurately predict the structural behavior of transmission components is paramount to execute the design and validation plans on time. As a Simulation engineer you are a key player in the design and validation process of transmission systems and components. Your work as a simulation engineer serves as an important input to the decision-making process in the mechanical design of transmission components. In addition, your work is very important to understand, set and validate durability & strength requirements for diverse components in the transmission.
You will be part of a group of simulation engineers with a multicultural background with passion for engineering, who strive to improve our best practices and methods so that we can eventually replace physical testing. We support the company in its constant quest for being more competitive through innovation and technology and has a great cooperation and working environment.
We are looking for a self-motivated and passionate individual, who can drive his/her own development as simulation engineer and strive to keep complexity at a right level to be able to draw accurate conclusions from your simulations while decreasing simulation time. As a person you have the ability to operate and deliver in a multicultural environment and to work in a structured and flexible way.
Responsibilities and tasks
- Perform structural analysis/simulations of transmission & transmission components following this sequence: Identify (describe failure mechanisms), explain (make clear in a simple way the underlying physics and mechanics involved) and improve (make proposals to improve/streamline the design)
- Perform optimization of design proposals to meet strength, durability and stiffness requirements
- Execute FEM simulations and provide proposals for design improvement
- Perform fatigue analyses
- Acquire and transfer innovation in FEM simulation techniques to the rest of the simulation team
- Drive part of RLM (Road-Lab-Math) process within the simulation team (move from requirement validation with physical testing to virtual validation using simulation)
Requirements
- MSc. Eng or PhD
- At least 5 years of experience in structural simulations in powertrain applications, preferably transmission
- Relevant experience with CAE software for structural analysis. ABAQUS is required while other software like ANSYS and NASTRAN are meritorious
- Relevant experience with CAE software for structural analysis (pre and post-processing tools, for example ANSA), design optimization and fatigue analysis
- Cultural awareness, particularly Asian culture
- Excellent command of English language both written and spoken
