Sustainability including climate change are the challenges of our generation. Our contribution is to offer leading transport and infrastructure solutions enabling societies to prosper in a sustainable way.
Fossil free fuels and Electrification are key enablers for carbon neutral road transport. Using hydrogen as a carrier of green electricity to power electric trucks, or renewable fuel engines is one important part of the solution and a complement to battery electric vehicles.
Powertrain Strategic Development has the responsibility to explore and develop new sustainable propulsion solutions, including hydrogen based propulsion technologies.
We are highly skilled engineers acting in an exciting global environment which provides opportunities to develop both professionally and personally.
Do you want to join us on this journey? Together we will shape the world we want to live in!

THIS IS US, YOUR NEW COLLEAGUES

Our team, the ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) System Group is a multi-disciplinary focused team that includes design, concept architect, combustion system, 1D/3D simulations, EATS, Controls, testing and verification. We are 12 engaged people that thrive on finding the best solutions, working together with other colleagues from different parts of Volvo organization. Our current mission is to develop a transport solution powered by a Hydrogen Engine, as a complement to battery electric, fuel cells and other renewable fuels. We are looking for a new colleague that will work as a 3D CFD Simulation Engineer. Are you the one?

WHAT WE HAVE TO OFFER

As a Simulation and Analysis Engineer you will be responsible to perform 3D CFD engine simulations for a hydrogen engine concept and develop new methods to improve the accuracy of the models based on experimental test results.
You will be involved in a dynamic environment, establishing close collaboration with local and global experts from different areas across the organization, and act as a bridge between strategic development and traditional product development.
In this position, you will explore top-notch powertrain technologies to define H2 ICE concept architecture. You will optimize engine parameters to secure the best product offer for the customer.

WHO ARE YOU?

As a Simulation and Analysis Engineer, you drive results, collaborate, build trust, welcome new learnings, and act with a player mindset (positive "can do" attitude). You can solve practical problems by leveraging on engine and aftertreatment expertise, connecting people, transforming theoretical knowledge into real products and society improvements.
Other requirements that would be beneficial for this role are:
M.Sc. Engineering (Mechatronics, Electronics, Applied Physics, Mechanics)
Experience in combustion engine modelling and optimization
Knowledge in engine concepts and components
Minimum 3 years of experience with powertrain product development
Knowledge in 3D CFD simulation tools such as Converge, StarCCM+, AVL fire or equivalent
Fluent in English

Other requirements that could be a merit:
PhD in related field
Knowledge in spark ignited engines
Knowledge in 1D engine concept simulation (GT-Power or equivalent)

Imagine yourself working in an environment focused and fully energized to develop H2 solutions for the future transportation. We trust the individual and act as a team, have fun at work, stay close to the product and provide opportunities to grow.
We hope to see you as part of our team, Welcome with your application today!
