FPC is seeking analytical and ambitious Sensor Technology Development Engineers to join us in developing future fingerprint systems for mobile phones and other portable devices. FPC is a leader in the development of capacitive fingerprint sensors and designs the whole system, from advanced custom silicon devices and microelectronic packaging, to algorithms and software for fingerprint recognition and applications on the target devices.

The Role

As a Sensor Technology Development Engineer you will be working with research and development of new fingerprint sensor concepts. FPC's product offering is in constant motion and we have a need to bring in new technologies and measurements techniques into our products. In some cases the solutions come from combining existing technologies and therefore an important part of this position is to investigate the current state-of-the-art in related technology areas, analyze IP positions of such technologies and develop FPC internal IP to secure the long term competiveness of the company.

The team that you will be part of is focusing on exploring alternative technologies and physics that can be used for fingerprint sensing with the end goal of developing groundbreaking integration strategies.

In this role, a strong emphasis is given to investigation and innovation within display technology and specifically within capacitive touch technology. You will conduct innovative work in the areas of display backplane, touch panel, and protective cover glass for advanced integration applications. You will also take an active part in conducting literature surveys, patent reviews, and competitor analysis.

The position involves close collaboration with colleagues and partners in an international environment to secure FPC's delivery of the best possible biometric verification systems. International travel to FPC suppliers, partners, and customers may be frequent.

Work location is Gothenburg.

Your Background

This role requires a Ph. D. or Master of Science in Engineering, such as in electronics, physics, material, or the equivalent. Experience in conducting research projects is an advantage. Previous industrial experience in the field of display technology is a big plus. With the right profile, also less experienced candidates will be considered. You need to be fluent in spoken and written English and not opposed to traveling abroad.

Success in this role requires:

• Very analytical mindset and ability to quickly learn new areas and understand new technologies.

• Experience in analyzing complex technologies and ability to identify new promising technical combinations and IP, with the end goal of creating new products.

• Interest and an aptitude for working with everything from technical details to broader system topics.

• Interest and an aptitude for working with international partners and vendors to pull together system solutions.

• Some experience from microelectronics processing and microfabrication and microelectronic systems.

Preference will be given to those with experience in Display and touch panel technologies.

You also have essential qualities such as being ambitious, motivated and flexible. You need to be comfortable working in a growing company, where you will be expected to assume considerable personal responsibility for your own activities and the company's success. This also requires you to be a team player who contributes to an open and positive atmosphere in the workplace.
