Sensor Analysis Engineer - Active Safety

Main Responsibilities of the Department

The Active Safety department has been one of the fastest growing parts of Volvo Car Group over the last decade due to rapid development of Active Safety systems and functionality. By continuously launching innovative and world first Active Safety features, Volvo Cars has positioned itself among the leaders in the automotive industry. Now, the work towards achieving our vision that by 2020 no one should be killed or seriously injured in a new Volvo continues with autonomous driving as the next step forward.

The sensors are one of the most important components in Active Safety. The sensor technology evolves in a fast pace including innovative methods and techniques that fascinates everyone. A large amount of sensors are placed in the vehicle and collects information about the vehicle's surroundings. This information is processed through advanced signal processing and the vehicle is able to apply a variety of functions from assessing any danger and informing the driver to highly autonomous driving.

At Active Safety, Sensor Analysis and Verification, you will be part of an Agile team working with cutting edge sensor technology. The ever growing number of sensors and system complexity in the vehicle put higher demands of a comprehensive and efficient verification process. We are part of creating the best products on the market within the area of Active Safety, Advanced Driver Assistance and Autonomous Drive.

We are looking for Analysis Engineers to strengthen our teams working with existing modules and with assignments in upcoming car platforms. Our teams are cross functional but we would like you to have a deeper knowledge and interest in verification and analysis for sensor systems used in existing and new cars. You should also be interested in developing new methods for verification and analysis.

At Active Safety Analysis and Verification, we work with four major forms of sensors which are used to achieve Advanced Driver Assistance and Autonomous Drive, and they are Cameras, Radars, Ultrasonics and Lidars. Existing knowledge and experience about one or several of these sensors is highly appreciated.

Who are you?
We believe you to have strong analytical and problem solving skills. You are a self-driven, reliable and communicative team player. In this job you need to be well organised, structured and with good documentation skills as you will amongst other things, support the design of new automotive sensor system verification tools and verification methods.
