Senior Weights Engineer
Work
description
The Structures
area within the Saab Aerostructures Engineering Department is responsible for
the structural integrity of the Gripen fighter, as well as the Saab
Aerostructures work packages for external customers such as Airbus and Boeing.
The area is also responsible for weights analysis, systems safety analysis and structural
testing.
We are currently looking
to employ an experienced weights engineer that is willing to work on-site in
Linköping on our various projects.
The job includes
typical weights engineering tasks such as:
• weight estimate
of new structures work packages using statistical data and discussions with
design and stress engineers
• weight
analysis of preliminary and final design solutions
• compilation of
weight reports
• support to
weighing activities in our workshops
Qualifications
We are looking for a weights
engineer that is an excellent team player and is easy to work together with
since all our development work is performed in project teams. You should also
be good at taking your own initiatives since at Saab Aerostructures we delegate
technical responsibilities in the project groups extensively. An analytical mind as well as a true interest for structures
development projects and weight calculations is equally important, and of
course fluency in the English language. Catia V5 and/or V4 knowledge is
expected (to be able to use Catia as a tool for calculating weight). Knowledge
of, or an interest to learn, the swedish language is an additional
qualification.
The place of work
is mainly Linköping, but during conceptual phases we frequently have project
teams on-site at our customers (mainly Airbus and Boeing), and therefore an
interest for spending periods abroad is valuable.
We are thus
looking for a weights engineer with substantial experience from the aircraft industry,
and a strong will to continue developing his/her skills within the field of
expertise. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering is the typical expected
education level.
