At the same time we prepare for a changing business environment where electromobility, autonomous driving and connectivity are rapidly increasing in importance.The RoleThe Global Purchasing function is responsible for selecting and developing high performing suppliers, in order to provide competitive bus products and services to each market.The Senior Vice President (SVP) of Volvo Buses Global Purchasing is based in Gothenburg, and is a member of the Volvo Buses Executive Committee. The SVP of Volvo Buses Global Purchasing is responsible to develop supply chain strategies to build a world class supplier base focusing on cost, quality, technology and delivery precision, adapted to each value chain.Volvo Buses Global Purchasing SVP is part of the Volvo Group Purchasing Community.The Volvo Group Purchasing Community is steered by the CPO of Volvo Group who is setting the guidelines on external supplier/partner communication, Sustainability and Quality requirements, contractual standards, processes as well as finding Volvo Group synergies with other AB Volvo group organizations.The SVP is responsible for purchasing deliverables within Volvo Buses. Some purchasing/sourcing areas are managed by dedicated Volvo Bus purchasing resources and some areas are managed by resources with Group Truck Purchasing organization. The Bus dedicated purchasing resources are currently approx. 145 employees, pre-dominantly buyers.The SVP will be a hands-on, engaged, and visible leader. She/he will be a champion of cross-functional cooperation, and be a role model for the Volvo Group wanted leadership behaviours. Decisions are taken as close to the value creation as possible and our leaders support with vision and direction.Key areas of priority, beyond reaching set business targets, for the SVP role will be to:Safeguard supplier quality levels supporting the premium brand of Volvo BusesFurther improve the standard cost of sales for complete buses, directly impacting the operating margin for Volvo BusesDrive the cultural transformation with focus on purchasing being a business value provider for the entire companyKey responsibilities for the SVP includes, but will not be limited to:Establish and develop partnerships with external suppliers/partners for Volvo Buses non-core technology development areasDeepen purchasing tender involvementSecure a well-functioning global purchasing organization in cooperation with Volvo Buses global functions, Volvo Group Trucks Purchasing, business regions and relevant Volvo Group functionsAct as a role model for Volvo culture and drive employee engagement resulting in a continuously improving performance culture, assuring the correct supplier base, supplying the right cost, quality and delivery performance.Challenging established "truths" within the organization, such as make-or-buy decisions, or possibilities for sourcing in best cost countriesWho are you?The SVP of Volvo Buses Purchasing shall be an effective business leader who understands the complete value chain and is comfortable with managing a global organization in a matrix context. Furthermore, the ideal candidate should be an operational and results driven global leader, preferably with a broad functional background that is capable of driving execution and managing change within a diverse, matrix organization. The candidate should have documented experience from leading a global purchasing organization.The ideal candidate profile includes the following set of experiences and leadership abilities:In general, we are especially welcoming female candidatesDocumented experience of senior leadership of global purchasing organizations with competencies in strategic, tactical and operational purchasing, as well as supplier quality development and assuranceExperience from industrial or automotive companies preferred. Especially familiarity with tender based businesses is highly appreciatedProven ability to work in an international setting, leading diverse teams in a global matrix organizationProven ability to move swiftly between the 10 000 meter and 200 meter perspective, managing both the strategic and hands-on project management aspects of a purchasing functionGlobal leader, preferably with experience from working and living abroadGood team builder and team player - strong in communication and stakeholder management within and across functions (engineering, sales, manufacturing, etc.)Strong People Development and Talent Identification skillsMaster's Degree in Engineering and/or Business. (Bachelor at minimum if supported by experience)Fluency in English is requiredThe final candidate will be jointly chosen by the President of Volvo Bus and the CPO of Volvo Group.
