hela Sverige Business Unit Europe (BUE) is responsible for Volvo Buses' end-to-end business in the European geographies (except UK & Ireland) in City/intercity and Coach segments, including industrial operations located in Wroclaw, Poland. In this role, your key responsibility is to secure profitability targets for BUE, build a high performing organization and establish successful customer relationships. You will drive market positioning, sales, deliveries, and operational improvements and cooperate with other business units and global functions in Volvo Buses and the Volvo Group. You will lead the execution of the Volvo Buses strategy in BUE and specific focus areas for BUE. Another key task is to acquire and retain the depth and diversity of new talent and capabilities needed for the successful performance of the business currently and in the future.
The position reports to the President of Volvo Buses and is a member of the executive leadership team.
Key Responsibilities
As SVP Business Unit Europe, your key responsibilities are:
Deliver on BUE P&L and balance sheet commitments while driving excellent customer relations through commercial excellence
Secure a well-functioning commercial and services organization that drives sales of new and used buses, spare parts, and services in selected markets
Accelerate (new) services and solutions sales
Drive operational excellence and continuous improvement cross-functionally throughout the organization
Ensure the right product and service mix and innovation pipeline for the business unit
Establish and execute marketing and brand management activities
Champion Volvo Buses culture and drive employee engagement
Develop and secure the competencies of personnel across the business unit at all levels
Participate extensively throughout the European geographies, supporting both external and internal initiatives. Actively develop and maintain key relationships with customers and business partners throughout Europe
Contribute to Volvo Buses as a whole, being active member of the leadership team
Competence Profile & Qualifications
The successful candidate is an effective business leader who understands the complete value chain and has strong relationship capabilities. To build trust, you listen and learn, yet communicate clear direction when needed. A network- and trust-based leadership style is a prerequisite to succeed in this business.
The ideal candidate profile comprises of the following set of experiences and capabilities:
Extensive experience in senior international leadership roles in general management, with full P&L and personnel responsibility within the industry and/or within tender/project-based business (not limited to the commercial vehicle industry)
Significant experience in project/tender business; including both project sales and execution
Proven customer relationship and negotiation skills
Experience driving operational excellence in a concerted fashion across all parts of the value chain; ideally mix of experience from roles in engineering and/or operations, sales and general management
Experience of successfully leading turn-around cases resulting in improved profitability
Strong track record in building high-performing teams
Analytical approach with solid decision-making skills
Excellent communication skills
Good team builder and team player
The candidate has a master's degree or equivalent as the basis for the career. Fluency in English is required
Location & Timeline
The primary location for the position is Gothenburg, Sweden or Wroclaw, Poland.
Travel is expected.
