Research, training and supervision of PhD students within optical spectroscopy, single molecule spectroscopy, photochemistry and photophysics, with applications to molecular aggregates, conjugated polymers, biomolecules and molecular materials.
Responsibility for leading and developing the research in single molecule spectroscopy at the division of chemical physics. This also includes to develop and offer the single molecule techniques to new users and visitors, for instance scientists coming to the Division via access programs like LaserLab Europe.
Teaching on undergraduate level within general and physical chemistry as well as giving and developing courses in optical spectroscopy and photochemistry on master and postgraduate level. The work comprises teaching, course responsibility and course development. The work also includes supervising PhD students, as well as some administrative duties.
The position has an approximately 70/30 distribution of research and teaching related work.
Qualifications
Those qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer, except in disciplines in the fine, applied or performing arts, are according to the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, a person who has demonstrated teaching expertise and been awarded a PhD or has the corresponding research competence or some other professional expertise that is of value in view of the subject matter of the post and the duties that it will involve. Ordinance (2010:1064).
In addition documented research skills in the areas, as defined by the description of the position above, is required.
The appointee must have a PhD degree or an equivalent foreign degree within the area of physical chemistry/chemical physics/physics. Docent competence in this field is also desirable. The applicant must possess documented competence in the field of single molecules spectroscopy, with emphasis on photochemistry and photophysics and light induced processes of molecular systems and materials. Special importance will be placed on documented independent research experience. Furthermore, the research activity of the applicant must be compatible with the research of the Division on time resolved spectroscopy and light induced processes in solar energy converting materials. The applicant must have documented teaching experience on undergraduate level as well as experience in supervising PhD students. The appointee must be prepared to teach in both Swedish and English.
Today, research and postgraduate studies at Lund University are largely based on the ability and competence of the individual researcher to obtain external funding, including his or her own salary. Hence, a documented capability to obtain research grants in national and international competition is a requirement. This is now common practice at the Division.
The assessment criteria for appointment as a senior lecturer, according to the Swedish Higher Education Ordinance, shall be the degree of the expertise required as a qualification for employment. As much attention shall be given to the assessment of teaching expertise as to the assessment of other qualifying criteria laid down in the first paragraph above. Each higher education institution determines itself what
assessment criteria are otherwise to apply to the appointment of a senior lecturer. Ordinance (2010:1064).
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for teaching positions are given in Lund University Teacher Appointment Regulations and in Lund University's Strategic Plan.
