As Senior Tooling Engineer at Volvo Cars Engine (VCE) in Skövde you will have a leading roleacting as Volvo Car's responsible for the tooling engineering part in preproduction projects, research projects and also be the expert in cutting zone conditions. Together with your colleges you will be responsible for all the cutting tools in VCE. You will be an important part of Manufacturing Engineering (ME) in both Skövde and Floby and also support our engine plant in Zhangjiakou.
The ME function at VCE is responsible for the industrial change management. Main activities will be to prepare and develop high efficient production systems within the areas engines and components. In co-operation with the product development department, ME develops future engine, components and manufacturing systems.
Main responsibilities
• Support and lead tooling development in cross functional teams
• Develop all occurring machining concept for component manufacturing
• Lead and develop problem solving methods regarding cutting tools and material
• Support projects and production as expert in advanced tooling and material questions
• Act as the specialist link between universities, suppliers, costumers, R&D and production
• Take lead in strategic tooling engineering questions
Required qualifications
• M.Sc. or equivalent work experience. Meritorious is a PhD in Engineering
• Experience in cutting tools and metallic material science
• Experience in cutting zone conditions
• Used to handle contacts in the academic world
• Experience from product- and process development
• Result oriented and used to manage deadlines
• Quality conscientious
• Good communication skills in English and Swedish, written and spoken
