As a Senior Technical Specialist, you will be part of the Material Centre and by that have the responsibility to develop and decide on future requirements, test methods and advanced engineering projects in the area of Corrosion. You will work closely together with Corrosion Team as well as the Technical Specialist Network at Material Centre and VCC, but also be part of networks outside the company - universities and institutes.
What you will do
We aim to continue our current leadership in the field of Corrosion and further strengthen this attribute in the future challenges of new technology and changed driving behavior. Autonomous Drive will increase uptime of cars and you will be responsible to develop the current verification technologies and - most importantly - build future strategies to meet the design and verification needs of more complex technologies in regards of Corrosion. In addition, you will be a go-to person to share seniority and expertise in Corrosion Avoidance in current as well as future technologies and applications.
You will be responsible for
Define, lead and plan Advanced Engineering projects from idea to implementation in car programs through
* Secure competitive long and short term technical strategies for Corrosion verification and detection
* Lead research work to define new requirement specifications and corresponding verification and validation methods, tools and facilities.
* Maintain personal seniority and expertise in the specialist area, follow the research within the area and provide engineering guidance
* Share knowledge and participate in Corrosion Team day to day work
* Plan and report Advanced Engineering project status on different levels - from Section to Management
* Actively work with universities, institutes and industry/suppliers to develop technology to support VCCs leading position in Corrosion
* Deliver applications for research and innovation projects, sometimes co-financed by authorities
* Develop and maintain relations with universities through supervision of doctorate programs, thesis works etc.
* Develop and maintain relations with standard institutes through continuous improvement of Corrosion related Standards
* Proactively participate in PR events, seminars, conferences, conventions and educating the Volvo Car Group in Corrosion avoidance.
Do you fit the profile?
You have experience from Corrosion and surface treatment. You should have at least a Master of Science degree in chemistry and materials, preferably including electrochemistry. You have documented technology deliveries within the field of Corrosion. To be successful in this role you need to be a team player with excellent communication skills and presentation techniques. You are self-driven, reliable with a positive attitude and innovative, in an industry ever changing. You enjoy and have a good sense for both technical and strategic work and you are passionate about working with verification methods and requirements. We want you to have demonstrated leadership in teams, projects and tasks and delivery of technical objectives. You are self-propelled with a high level of curiosity for new technologies and business acumen to balance technology with value for the company. You are fluent in English (spoken and written) and you have a driver's license.
