Overview
MachineGames looking for an experienced Senior Technical Artist to be part of our team of talented technical artists and help bring our games to life!
You will be the bridge between the artists and the programmers and in this role, excellent communication skills are key.
In this role you will be working in a tight team under the supervision of our Associate Game Director, and you will collaborate in cross-functional teams daily.

This is a permanent position starting as soon as possible with the option to work at either our HQ in Uppsala, or in our satellite office in Sundsvall, Sweden.
The position is onsite with the option to work in a hybrid capacity. We will support your relocation and/or application for work permit if you have a non-EU passport and/or are not currently residing in Sweden.
Responsibilities
Work with artists and engineers to improve engine and content creation tools/workflows.
Create and maintain technical art documentation.
Troubleshoot issues and analyze game performance and memory usage using engine, third-party, and internal tools.
Take part in art asset reviews to spot potential technical issues and assess production risks.
Design, develop and maintain art pipeline tools for modeling, texturing, and world building.

Qualifications
Solid understanding of game engines, pipelines, and production processes, including high- and low-poly modeling, UV unwrapping, baking, texturing, and world building.
Experience developing tools and pipelines for game content creation.
Strong scripting/programming skills in Python.
Hands-on experience with Blender, Modo, Substance Designer, and Substance Painter.
Proficient communication in English, both verbal and written.
CV and Cover Letter in English.
Proactive and able to work independently.

Preferred Skills
Knowledge of procedural asset creation tools such as Houdini or Blender Geometry Nodes.
Experience with C++.
Familiarity with shader development (HLSL, GLSL, or similar) and a strong grasp of Physically Based Rendering (PBR) pipelines.
Experience working with console platforms.
Background in photogrammetry, laser scanning, and lookdev.
