Job Description
Avatar: Frontiers of PandoraTM is a first person, action-adventure game developed by Massive Entertainment - a Ubisoft studio in collaboration with Lightstorm Entertainment and Disney. Built using the latest iteration of the Snowdrop engine, and developed exclusively for the new generation of consoles and PC, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora brings to life the alluring world of Pandora with all of its beauty and danger in an immersive, open world experience.
We're looking for a Technical Animator, to assist and closely collaborate with our skilled Brand team.
In this role, you'll collaborate with the Brand Realization Director and Video Artists to balance our creative vision with production realities. You'll verify the quality of the animation pipeline, by making necessary improvements to fit technical constraints and our Artistic direction. With your expertise, you'll share knowledge and help the team ensure high-quality cinematic trailers as well as push our pipeline and workflows to the next level.

What you'll do
Interacting with Video Artists to effectively solve potential blockers in regard to Technical Animation
Developing animation workflow tools
Working with Maya as well as Character and Prop rigs
Prototyping, keyframing and solve animation blocking
Defining efficient workflows and promoting best practices
Creating documentation about developed tools
Training other artists to use the developed tools

Qualifications

You are passionate about animation, rigging, and the emerging technologies that surround them. You have an eye for quality, enjoy problem solving and are always seeking to improve. You enjoy collaborating with peers and are a good communicator to express your ideas and suggestions. You are open to feedback and thrive in a creative and innovative environment
Besides the above we're looking for someone aligned with our core values and the following skills and experience:
A relevant portfolio of your work
Strong knowledge of 3D software such as Maya and Motion Builder with a technical focus on rigging and skinning
Strong knowledge of the video game development process and production pipelines
Good knowledge of human anatomy
Experience cleaning Mocap animations
Experience writing scripts/tools in Python is an asset
