What's in it for you?
Design plays a cruicial role in creating a brand and a product identity for the customer. The design of our cars is strongly influenced by our Scandinavian origins of elegance, function, and the purity of lines as strong design elements. The Design department is a unit of 400 employees divided into one creative team and one operations team who closely work together to fulfil Volvo's design requirements.
Right now, we are in a very exciting phaze of structuring the new UX organization where people from different backgrounds but working with UX are gathered in one organization. The main pillars in this organization are Vision, Guide, Mobile, Volvo Car App and Car, Web, and Retail Systems.
Design Operation UX has the task together with our design managers to drive the user experience in the Volvo Cars Vehicle Programs through supporting as project managers as well as prototyping. The department consists of 12 people who either work as Design project managers or prototypers.
What you will do
In your role as a senior developer, you will be responsible for developing high fidelity interaction software and hardware prototypes for verification of Interaction concepts for verification purposes, together with a UX designer. This could either be in a test car, production cars, or a rig. You will also develop software and hardware prototypes solutions for user interface solutions for our concept cars. This work includes contacts with other engineering departments within Volvo and suppliers. As a senior developer, you are expected to manage your own area and have the ability to prioritize your deliveries.
Your specific responsibilities will include:
* Working together with designers to develop HMI solutions to meet Design intention.
* Supporting and maintaining the software/hardware in test cars, with respect to user experience.
* Challenging and driving new technical solutions to support Design intention.
* Supporting the UX design organization with facts and technical information.

Who are you?
We believe you have an M.Sc. Computer Engineering, Electrical or Mechatronics and are
* proficient in C/C++ and Python
* have advanced skills in React/JavaScript programming
* comfortable in working and configuring in Linux Environment
* able to design schematics/PCB and manufacture electrical circuits
* experienced in creating cross-application communication solutions (such as CAN, LIN, FLEXRAY, MQTT)
* fluent in English
Experience from UX development and frameworks such as Unreal Engine and Android and version control systems such as Git are meritorious.
