The mission of the Embedded Software Group within Electrical & Electronics Advanced Engineering at Vehicle Engineering is to develop pioneering software technologies to enable software-driven transport solutions, and fulfil Volvo Group's vision. We strive to be in the forefront of the automotive-specific software technologies and engineering methodologies. We foster team work and collaboration with continuous improvement mind-set.
Our main responsibilities are developing, securing, integrating and transferring technologies to provide a common software infrastructure that establishes the foundation to support a wide range of applications and features, including but not limited to autonomous vehicles. We develop efficient, robust and reliable software that leverages on heterogeneities and advancements in contemporary technologies, for example, hardware platforms, communication technologies and operating system technologies. Furthermore, we address engineering methods relevant for electronic and embedded systems, from end-user needs and requirements to integration and verification of the final system.
About the position
You will play an active role in identification and evaluation of emerging and state-of-the-art system and software technologies for next-generation software and electronics architecture with focus on simulation technologies, including virtual integration and verification technologies.
You will work with development and evaluation of concepts and technologies, integration of technologies and demonstration of proof-of-concepts. The scope includes practical hands-on work around development of techniques and tools for simulation, analysis and verification of embedded system and software. As a result, this position offers variation in challenges and assignments. At the same time, this requires an open mind to new technologies and concepts.
This position offers possibilities of not only interacting with our experts and engineers across different organizations within the Volvo Group but also networking and collaborating with academia, research institutes and other industrial entities.

Required qualifications
MSc Degree in Computer Science/Electrical Engineering/Software Engineering or similar technical field of study or equivalent practical experience
Very good knowledge of system/software analysis methodologies and simulation technologies
Very good understanding of software-intensive automotive system design principles along with strong software development skills in C and/or C++
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Beneficial qualifications
It is meritorious to have one or more of the following:
Experience of working with real-time embedded systems along with good understanding of system engineering and software design
Experience of software development in embedded Linux environment
Knowledge of functional safety and ISO 26262
Good understanding of emerging and state-of-the-art system/software technologies in the automotive industry
Experience in agile development
