The driveline and its components are supplied to all Volvo Group's brands and are used in trucks, buses, construction equipment, marine and industrial applications. About the team and role
We at Electric Propulsion System Design are a global team of skilled engineers in the field of Electrical System Design. We work on cutting-edge electromobility projects and believe that great innovations come through cooperation and are always there to give a helping hand when needed. As a part of the Electric Propulsion System design team, you will join your fellow colleagues in the journey of creating concepts for new functions on system level within several different areas. Your responsibilities in the role as a System Design Engineer with Functional Safety knowledge will be to create System requirements to the software development, component, system verification and project teams.
We are looking for
A Senior System design engineer who creates new concepts and requirements for the electromobility functions and work with Functional safety aspects of the concepts and requirements. A people's person with the will to drive things forward, make decisions, engage, inspire, and help others. We believe that you are a good communicator with a strong can-do attitude, a learning mindset and ability to drive tasks to completion. You will be part of the HARA Functional safety concept and technical safety concept. Sometimes you are also driving the Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA) and other times you are contributing to the work. It is important that you are flexible and enjoy working in a changing environment with a lot of collaboration with people in different teams.
This role requires an overall understanding of software development and system design, as well as knowing the value of the customer's perspective. You will drive the changes that are needed, evaluate the solution of today, drive and create new concepts, evaluate log data, and write requirements. This demands a can-do attitude and technical lead profile.
To succeed in this role, you need:
• Minimum 8 years of experience in developing system engineering, preferably traction voltage, batteries, high voltage, electromobility or electric propulsion.
• Good understanding of Functional Safety. Have done Functional safety concept, technical safety concept etc. Good knowledge in ISO 26262.
• Well developed skillsets in requirement management and writing requirements.
• Analyzing mindset: Analyze log data from the software and Field report data.
• Well-developed communication and teamwork skills
• Master of Science in Electronics, Data science, Software engineering, Mechatronic or similar.
• To be fluent in both written and verbal English
Meritorious, if you have experience:
• From the automotive industry
• Within Electric Propulsion System
• System Weaver
• Software development Matlab / Simulink
