Architecture Services is responsible providing architects in different roles and assignments to the rest of Group IT. Today we provide Solutions Architects to projects, programs and other IT activities, Domain Architects that support different business functions and Enterprise Architects that have the whole of Volvo Cars as their responsibility. We are just about to start a change process in which we will redefining our role within Volvo Car Group and Group IT.
As Senior Strategy Architect you will take on a newly defined role which will replace today's Enterprise Architect role. You will have an excellent opportunity to take part in forming and defining a completely new service in architecture. The Senior Strategy Architect will provide business value to key stakeholders in the business functions and regions, be a speaking partner to the CIO on the strategic layer of the architecture for the Enterprise. The Senior Strategy Architect is the role that will develop, manage and secure the entire IT architecture for Volvo Cars on a global and corporate level. The Senior Strategy Architect is expected to set the right future corporate IT architecture to enable Volvo Cars to achieve business strategy and objectives, while ensuring that the current IT architecture develops in line with outlines direction for future. The Strategy Architect will also focus and align deliveries towards strategic focus areas rather than the traditional architectural pillars.
Main responsibilities and tasks will include responsibility (together with other Strategy Architects) for the strategic layer of the entire architectural landscape, which includes ownership and governance of the Enterprise Architecture framework and artefacts, as well as architectural governance processes and fora.
Main responsibilities
• Work with high level business strategies and translate them to IT strategies
• Market and industry watch related to generic (IT) trends and enterprise architecture
• Get close interaction with all key stakeholders and counterparts, internally and externally
• Develop Enterprise Target Architectures, Reference Architectures and roadmaps
• Communicate, educate and govern that Enterprise Architectures and roadmaps are followed
• Be a spokesperson/go-to person for what Volvo Cars need to do in terms of high level architectures
• Provide proactive senior expert advisory related to Enterprise Architectural areas to business (and Group IT)
• Create plans and project proposals to drive change in the Enterprise Architecture landscape incl. follow up of the plans
• Develop and manage the Enterprise Architecture framework incl. artefacts
Required qualifications
• MSc, MBA or equivalent in relevant areas
• Seniority in developing Enterprise Architectures in relevant business and IT environments, together with a substantial business acumen and an extensive technical breadth
• Profound understanding of business and IT capabilities in an enterprise context
• Financial acumen, basic knowledge of financial models for IT organisations
• A strong sense for Business Innovation and Business Technology
• Experience from several industries and large as well as complex global environments is meritorious
• Working knowledge of more than one Enterprise Architecture design method and framework is meritorious
• Fluent in English, written and spoken

• Leadership skills, be able to act as a leader and take decisions based on professional acceptance and personal courage
• Ability to apply an enterprise view and holistic visioning, big thinking and be able to look at a problem from multiple angles and consider the enterprise as a whole
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Holistic problem solving skills, be able to evaluate and solve a set of complex and unique problems
• Negotiation skills, be able to negotiate at the decision-making table to get things accomplished
• Ability to trust and challenge others
