Position description:
The department responsible for simulation of manufacturing processes is looking for a senior solid mechanics engineer with experience of thermomechanical analysis.
Your main task will be to further develop our simulation methods needed to predict all relevant properties. This means using FE software to simulate processes common in manufacturing of aerospace components, such as; welding, heat treatment, metal forming, cutting, forging and casting. Mainly with the strongest focus on materials such as super alloys (Ni-base) and titanium alloys.
Within Volvo Aero you will work tightly coupled to material specialists as well as manufacturing process specialists to develop and improve our numerical tools to ultimately having them validated and deployed in our product development programs. You will also participate and/or lead research projects both in national and international collaborations within the area to develop new methods for future enhanced ability.
To achieve above you need to have strong interaction within the simulation group to obtain feedback from the product development environment to understand the current challenges and future possibilities.
Qualifications:
MSc (Master of Science) in Mechanical Engineering or Physics, or PhD
Documented experience of thermodynamic non-linear finite element simulations (MSC.Marc experience is valued)
Product development experience and/or research environment
Strong engagement in development of simulation methods
Positive attitude
Excellent in co-operation and networking with high social skills
Ability to lead external partners and network
Ability to work to commitments and deliver accordingly
