What's in it for you?
In the Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence we actively drive development and integration of Volvo Cars' overall analytics and AI strategy. The department also handles competence growth and training as well as internal and external collaborations within the fields of analytics, machine learning and AI. Our team consists of Data Engineers, Data Scientists and Machine Learning Engineers developing product applications and services with direct or indirect connection to our cars. As a senior software engineer in our team you will take a leading role in designing and deploying a variety of interesting applications. You will also be part of improving he company-wide data-centric capabilities and ways-of-working.
What you will do?
We are looking for an experienced Software Engineer to complement our team with software development and design knowledge, to improve and deploy our machine learning applications. You will use your technical skills to tackle break-through machine learning and AI problems at one of the world's most tech-intensive car manufacturers. You are expected to build and maintain the group's core infrastructure and code base being used companywide (e.g. build systems, automated code-quality assessment). You will perform low-level code optimization, develop and deploy workflows, package machine learning pipelines according to deployment requirements that can span distributed systems, in-car and cloud computing.
You and your skills
You are a passionate and curious person, always striving to improve your skills. Through your education and minimum 3 years of developing software products you achieved a strong understanding of the software design, testing and development process. You have excellent implementation skills in high and low-level languages, such as Python, R, C, C++ or Scala. You also have experience with version control systems, build systems, continuous integration and configuration management.
Meritorious qualifications
It is meritorious if you have academic education (MSc or PhD) within the knowledge area. You have a good understanding in data-centric software architecture, design and patterns, including in distributed- and data-centric systems. Experience in relevant dataflow, data-processing and service deployment frameworks is a plus. Scientific computing, numerical methods and distributed computing is a plus, as well as previous working experience with machine learning packages and frameworks, building pipelines and workflows.
